“Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.”
-Kahlil Gibran- Reflecting Behind Surface is a series of sixteen digital alternative photographs that represent the surface of reality, with internal emotions reflected in an intangible way. This project of fine art represents a personal sequence of events from my own life that captures unspoken realities existing beneath the surface that connects one object with another. The reflecting images are shot in different sized mirrors and what is contained in the mirror is the most significant, representing my internal life. This reflecting project has a special tool in each photograph - real shining mirrors. The mirror’s images present my mental thoughts and represent obscure memories. My formal design borrows the traditional process of Daguerreotype or Calotype. The old surfaces of images relay my memory and subconscious emotion. I photographed personal perspectives to observe inner beauty and expose my state of mind. The sixteen photographs are presented on copper sheets. Every image has a small print size of approximately 7 by 9 inches. |
